Therapeutic Approach

Every person brings a unique set of experiences, strengths, and challenges to therapy, and I believe the process should reflect that individuality. My approach is grounded in flexibility and collaboration, drawing from a range of evidence-based methods to meet you where you are.

We’ll explore not just the challenges you’re facing but also the underlying patterns, emotions, and experiences that have shaped your journey. By tailoring our work to your specific needs, we’ll uncover ways to move through life’s complexities with greater clarity, balance, and connection to yourself.

The methods I use are designed to address the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and body. Use the links to explore the modalities I incorporate and learn how each can support your goals.

Cognitive Based Therapies

Building Awareness and Flexibility in How You Think and Respond

Cognitive-based therapies explore the connections between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, offering insight into patterns that may feel limiting or overwhelming. These approaches support you in building awareness, flexibility, and practical tools to approach life’s challenges with greater confidence and clarity.

This might include navigating self-criticism, perfectionism, or rigid thinking patterns that leave you feeling stuck. Cognitive-based therapies encourage understanding your emotions with compassion, accepting your experiences as they are, and finding ways to align your actions with what matters most to you. By gently exploring thought patterns shaped by past experiences or unmet emotional needs, these therapies create space for greater self-compassion, emotional regulation, and growth.

In my practice, I use several evidence-based cognitive approaches to support these goals, including:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): ACT focuses on helping you acknowledge and accept your thoughts and feelings without judgment while guiding you toward actions that align with your personal values and goals.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): DBT provides practical tools for managing intense emotions and navigating challenging situations, combining cognitive work with mindfulness and emotion regulation strategies.

  • Schema Therapy: Schema Therapy helps you uncover deep-rooted patterns and beliefs that may no longer serve you, offering a path to understanding and shifting those patterns for healthier relationships with yourself and others.

  • Emotional Schema Therapy (EST): EST helps you explore your beliefs about emotions, fostering greater emotional acceptance and teaching strategies to manage emotions in a way that feels balanced and empowering.

  • Metacognitive Therapy: This approach helps you step back from overthinking and worrying, teaching you ways to change your relationship with your thoughts and reduce mental exhaustion.

These approaches support you in understanding and reshaping thought patterns, helping you navigate challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.
