FAQs
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s natural to want more information. This section is here to provide clear answers to some of the most common questions about my practice, what to expect in therapy, and how to get started. If there’s something you don’t see covered here, feel free to reach out; I’m happy to help.
Yes. Because I’m licensed in Texas, you do need to be physically in the state during our sessions.
If you travel within the state or split your time between different Texas locations, telehealth makes it easy to meet from anywhere with a reliable internet connection and a private space. But if you’re moving out of Texas or spending long stretches of time elsewhere, I won’t be able to provide therapy once you’re outside state lines.
If you’re not in Texas, I recommend finding a therapist who’s licensed where you are so you can get the support you need. And if you’re unsure how these rules apply to your situation, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to help clarify.
No, I don’t provide formal diagnoses for autism or ADHD. Those require a full evaluation with a psychologist, psychiatrist, or other medical professional who specializes in neurodevelopmental assessments.
That said, I know getting testing can be overwhelming and hard to access. I’m happy to help you find providers who align with your needs and support you in navigating the process.
Even without a formal diagnosis, we can still work together. I offer neurodiversity-affirming therapy that respects your lived experiences and focuses on support and strategies that fit your unique needs.
No, you don’t need a specific diagnosis to work with me.
When it comes to neurodivergence, I know getting a diagnosis as an adult can be expensive and hard to access. I fully respect self-diagnosed individuals and anyone who identifies with autistic or ADHD experiences. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to work with me. I’ll meet you where you are and support you based on your lived experience.
Yes, I work with many major insurance providers through my partnership with Headway. Headway takes care of verifying your benefits and submitting claims, which helps make the process simpler on your end.
If you plan to use insurance, it’s a good idea to check your coverage so you know what to expect with copays, deductibles, or out-of-network benefits. If anything feels unclear, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to answer questions and help you understand your options.
My office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. I schedule therapy sessions between 9:00 AM and 3:15 PM, which gives me time before and after sessions to handle emails, paperwork, and prepare for our work together.
I don’t offer evening or weekend sessions right now. If you reach out after hours, I’ll get back to you as soon as I can on the next business day.
Sessions are usually 60 minutes long, giving us plenty of time to focus on your goals and explore what’s coming up for you. How often we meet depends on your needs and what feels doable in your life. Many people start with weekly sessions because it helps build consistency and momentum, especially when working through ongoing challenges or deeper patterns.
As we go, we can adjust the schedule to fit where you’re at. Some clients move to biweekly or as-needed sessions once they feel more equipped to navigate things on their own. The goal is to keep therapy flexible and supportive so it fits your life and feels sustainable.
Your first session is about starting to build a strong, supportive foundation for our work together. It’s a chance for me to get to know you, your experiences, challenges, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. It also gives you a sense of how I work.
We’ll spend time exploring what brought you here, what feels most important right now, and any goals or hopes you have for therapy. I’ll ask questions as part of a clinical assessment to understand your current concerns, past experiences, and patterns that might be showing up in your life. This is not a test or checklist. It’s a conversation designed to feel safe and move at your pace.
We’ll also review any forms you’ve completed, answer your questions, and talk about what to expect in future sessions. If something does not feel right or if you have preferences about how we work together, I welcome your feedback. This process is collaborative, and your comfort matters.
By the end of the session, we’ll have a clearer sense of how therapy can support you and a plan for moving forward in a way that feels meaningful and sustainable.

To schedule your first session, feel free to connect with me via text at 346-246-1819 or email at etaylorlcsw@proton.me.(etaylorlcsw@proton.me) Once we’ve had our initial session, we’ll discuss scheduling future appointments at the end of each session to ensure it fits your needs and availability.
I work with adults who are navigating the challenges of trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and autism. These experiences can shape how you process emotions, relate to others, and move through daily life. You may feel stuck in patterns of overwhelm, uncertainty, or self-doubt, or struggle to make sense of how your mind and body respond to stress.
In our work together, we’ll focus on understanding the unique ways these challenges affect you while honoring the strengths and perspectives that make you who you are. Therapy offers a space to explore your experiences without judgment, develop skills to manage life’s demands, and reconnect with a sense of confidence and clarity. My aim is to support you in creating a life that feels both authentic and aligned with your values.
Finding the right therapist is a deeply personal and important decision. Therapy works best when you feel comfortable, supported, and understood, and I want to ensure that we’re a good fit for your needs and goals.
To help you make this decision, I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation. During this call, we’ll discuss what you’re seeking support for, my approach to therapy, and any specific questions or concerns you may have. This is a chance for us to get a sense of how we might work together and for you to determine if my style and expertise feel aligned with what you’re looking for.
If you’re feeling uncertain about starting therapy or unsure of where to begin, that’s okay too. This call can be a helpful first step to explore your options and clarify what you need. Ultimately, my goal is to create a collaborative and affirming space where you feel empowered to take the next step in your journey, whether it’s with me or another provider who’s right for you.
Therapy progress can look different for everyone, and it’s normal to experience a mix of breakthroughs and moments that feel like you’re revisiting the same conversation over and over again. Growth often unfolds in waves, with periods of noticeable change and others where the process feels slower. These moments of reflection or challenge are a natural part of deep, lasting change.
You might notice shifts in how you think, feel, and respond to challenges. You might feel more self-aware, better equipped to manage emotions, or more hopeful about the future. We’ll regularly check in on your goals to ensure therapy is meeting your needs and adjust our approach as necessary.
Remember, progress isn’t always linear, and even moments of struggle can hold valuable insights. Together, we’ll navigate these ups and downs with curiosity and compassion, ensuring that therapy remains a meaningful and supportive part of your journey.
Telehealth therapy allows us to connect virtually through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. This means you can attend sessions from the comfort of your own home or any private space where you feel at ease, as long as you’re physically located in Texas during our session.
All you need is a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone, such as a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Before our first session, I’ll provide clear instructions for accessing the platform, so you feel confident and prepared.
Many clients find telehealth to be a convenient and effective way to engage in therapy, offering the same supportive connection as in-person sessions while eliminating the need for travel or navigating geographic barriers. Whether you’re new to telehealth or have concerns about the process, I’m here to answer your questions and help ensure a smooth experience.
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy, and telehealth is designed to uphold the same standards as in-person sessions. I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure your personal information and conversations remain private. The platform encrypts all data, protecting it from unauthorized access.
Working from home can sometimes mean that various roles or areas of life overlap. To ensure both your privacy and my complete focus on the therapeutic process, I take several steps to create a secure and distraction-free environment. Sessions are conducted from a private office; I wear earbuds to prevent your side of the conversation from being overheard, and I use a white noise machine outside my office door to muffle my voice. These measures help maintain confidentiality and foster a professional, uninterrupted space for our work together.
It’s also important to consider your environment during sessions. Choosing a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable can help maintain your confidentiality. If privacy at home is a concern, we can discuss strategies to create a secure setting, such as using headphones or scheduling sessions at a time that works best for you.
If you have additional questions or concerns about telehealth confidentiality, I’m happy to address them to ensure you feel secure and supported throughout the process.
My approach to therapy is highly collaborative and grounded in a deep respect for your unique experiences. Together, we’ll create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, emotions, and challenges with openness and curiosity.
Through thoughtful exploration and dialogue, we’ll work to identify patterns and influences that shape your experiences, offering clarity and insight along the way. Drawing from cognitive-based therapies, somatic practices, and parts work, I tailor our work to address the connection between your mind and body, helping you develop tools to navigate life’s complexities with greater confidence and self-compassion.
Therapy is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of yourself, resolve inner conflicts, and cultivate growth that feels authentic and empowering. My goal is to celebrate your strengths and support you in creating a life that feels aligned with your values and true to who you are.
It’s common to experience a mix of emotions as you prepare for your first session. What’s most important is knowing this time is dedicated to creating a supportive space where you feel truly seen and comfortable letting go of the mask to be your authentic self.
Before we meet, I’ll provide you with a few forms to complete. These will help me get a better understanding of your background and goals for therapy. If you have any questions about the forms, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to help.
During the session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and discuss what you’re looking to get out of therapy. You don’t need to have everything figured out; just come as you are. It can be helpful to think about what’s been on your mind lately or what’s motivating you to seek support, but it’s okay if you’re not sure where to start.
Make sure you’re in a comfortable, private space with a reliable internet connection for our telehealth session. You might also want to have a notebook or some water nearby, but this isn’t required. Most importantly, remember that this is your time, and I’m here to meet you wherever you are.
Life happens, and I understand that schedules can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice. This allows me to offer the time to another client who may need support.
Cancellations or missed appointments without 24 hours' notice may result in a $75 cancellation fee. I aim to be as flexible as possible and am happy to work with you to find a new time that fits your schedule. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, feel free to reach out.
If you’re experiencing a crisis or feeling unsafe between sessions, it’s important to seek immediate support. While I’m here to help during our scheduled sessions, I am not available for emergency services.
For immediate assistance, you can contact a crisis hotline or visit an emergency facility:
• National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Dial 988
• Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741
• Emergency Services: Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room
If you’re in Texas, you can also reach out to the Texas Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255.
For ongoing support, I encourage you to consider reaching out to trusted friends or family members. If you’d like, we can also explore strategies during our sessions to help you feel more equipped to navigate difficult moments.
Your safety and well-being are the highest priority, and there’s no shame in seeking additional help when you need it.
