What issues do you specialize in?I work with adults who are navigating the challenges of trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and autism. These experiences can shape how you process emotions, relate to others, and move through daily life. You may feel stuck in patterns of overwhelm, uncertainty, or self-doubt, or struggle to make sense of how your mind and body respond to stress. In our work together, we’ll focus on understanding the unique ways these challenges affect you while honoring the strengths and perspectives that make you who you are. Therapy offers a space to explore your experiences without judgment, develop skills to manage life’s demands, and reconnect with a sense of confidence and clarity. My aim is to support you in creating a life that feels both authentic and aligned with your values.
-
Do you work with insurance, and how does that process work?Yes, I work with several major insurance providers through my partnership with Headway. Headway helps manage the verification of your benefits and the submission of claims, making the process more straightforward. If you’re using insurance, I recommend reviewing your coverage to understand any copays, deductibles, or out-of-network benefits that might apply. For more details on the plans I accept and information about rates, out-of-network options, and other policies, please visit my Rates & Insurance page. If you have any additional questions about insurance or payment options, feel free to reach out.
-
Do I need a specific diagnosis to work with you?If you’re using insurance to cover therapy, a formal diagnosis is required as part of the claims process. For self-pay clients, a formal diagnosis is not necessary, though we’ll still begin with an assessment to collaborate on a shared understanding of your goals and needs. When it comes to neurodiversity, I understand that obtaining a formal diagnosis of autism or ADHD as an adult can be costly, and access to providers for testing is often limited. I respect self-diagnosed individuals and those who resonate with the experiences of neurodivergent communities. You do not need a formal diagnosis to work with me—I’m here to support you based on your lived experiences and unique perspective. For more information about insurance requirements and payment options, please visit my Rates & Insurance page. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to clarify.
-
Do you diagnose autism or ADHD?No, I do not provide formal diagnoses for autism or ADHD. These diagnoses require a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a psychologist, psychiatrist, or medical professional who specializes in assessing neurodevelopmental conditions. If you’re seeking a formal evaluation, I can help guide you in finding a provider who aligns with your needs. I understand that accessing testing services can be challenging, and I’m here to support you in navigating this process. While I don’t diagnose, I do provide neurodiversity-affirming therapy that respects and honors your lived experiences. Whether you have a formal diagnosis or not, I’m here to offer support and strategies tailored to your unique needs.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?Finding the right therapist is a deeply personal and important decision. Therapy works best when you feel comfortable, supported, and understood, and I want to ensure that we’re a good fit for your needs and goals. To help you make this decision, I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation. During this call, we’ll discuss what you’re seeking support for, my approach to therapy, and any specific questions or concerns you may have. This is a chance for us to get a sense of how we might work together and for you to determine if my style and expertise feel aligned with what you’re looking for. If you’re feeling uncertain about starting therapy or unsure of where to begin, that’s okay too. This call can be a helpful first step to explore your options and clarify what you need. Ultimately, my goal is to create a collaborative and affirming space where you feel empowered to take the next step in your journey—whether it’s with me or another provider who’s right for you.

What can I expect from my first session?Your first session is an opportunity for us to begin building a strong, supportive foundation for our work together. This initial meeting is designed to help me understand your unique experiences, challenges, and goals while giving you a sense of how therapy with me works. We’ll start with a comprehensive clinical assessment, which serves as the foundation for creating a personalized and collaborative treatment plan tailored to your needs. This process allows us to explore your current concerns, past experiences, and the patterns or themes that may be influencing your life. My aim is to approach this conversation with curiosity, compassion, and without judgment, ensuring you feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. We’ll also review any forms you’ve completed before the session, clarify expectations, and discuss any questions or concerns you may have. This is your time to share what feels most important to you, whether that’s what brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain, or simply what feels challenging right now. This first session is more than just gathering information—it’s about establishing trust, demystifying the therapy process, and creating a collaborative space where you feel empowered and supported. If there’s something that doesn’t feel right or if you have specific preferences for how we work together, I encourage you to share—your comfort and needs are at the center of this process. By the end of the session, we’ll have a clearer understanding of how therapy can support you and a plan for moving forward in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to you.

How will I know if therapy is working for me?Therapy progress can look different for everyone, and it’s normal to experience a mix of breakthroughs and moments that feel like you’re revisiting the same conversation over and over again. Growth often unfolds in waves, with periods of noticeable change and others where the process feels slower. These moments of reflection or challenge are a natural part of deep, lasting change. You might notice shifts in how you think, feel, and respond to challenges—perhaps feeling more self-aware, better equipped to manage emotions, or more hopeful about the future. We’ll regularly check in on your goals to ensure therapy is meeting your needs and adjust our approach as necessary. Remember, progress isn’t always linear, and even moments of struggle can hold valuable insights. Together, we’ll navigate these ups and downs with curiosity and compassion, ensuring that therapy remains a meaningful and supportive part of your journey.

How does telehealth work?Telehealth therapy allows us to connect virtually through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. This means you can attend sessions from the comfort of your own home or any private space where you feel at ease, as long as you’re physically located in Texas during our session. All you need is a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone, such as a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Before our first session, I’ll provide clear instructions for accessing the platform, so you feel confident and prepared. Many clients find telehealth to be a convenient and effective way to engage in therapy, offering the same supportive connection as in-person sessions while eliminating the need for travel or navigating geographic barriers. Whether you’re new to telehealth or have concerns about the process, I’m here to answer your questions and help ensure a smooth experience.
-
Do I need to be in Texas to work with you?Yes, because I am licensed to practice therapy in Texas, you must be physically located in the state during our sessions, regardless of where your permanent residence is. This requirement is part of state licensing regulations and ensures that therapy complies with professional and legal standards. If you travel frequently within Texas or split your time between different locations in the state, telehealth offers the flexibility to meet from anywhere with a reliable internet connection and a private space. However, if you plan to move out of Texas or frequently reside elsewhere, I may not be able to continue providing therapy. If you’re outside of Texas, I encourage you to search for a therapist licensed in your state to ensure you receive the support you need. If you have questions about these requirements or how they apply to your situation, feel free to reach out for clarification.
-
How do you maintain confidentiality in telehealth sessions?Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy, and telehealth is designed to uphold the same standards as in-person sessions. I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure your personal information and conversations remain private. The platform encrypts all data, protecting it from unauthorized access. Working from home can sometimes mean that various roles or areas of life overlap. To ensure both your privacy and my complete focus on the therapeutic process, I take several steps to create a secure and distraction-free environment. Sessions are conducted from a private office; I wear earbuds to prevent your side of the conversation from being overheard, and I use a white noise machine outside my office door to muffle my voice. These measures help maintain confidentiality and foster a professional, uninterrupted space for our work together. It’s also important to consider your environment during sessions. Choosing a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable can help maintain your confidentiality. If privacy at home is a concern, we can discuss strategies to create a secure setting, such as using headphones or scheduling sessions at a time that works best for you. If you have additional questions or concerns about telehealth confidentiality, I’m happy to address them to ensure you feel secure and supported throughout the process.
-
What is your approach to therapy? My approach to therapy is highly collaborative and grounded in a deep respect for your unique experiences. Together, we’ll create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, emotions, and challenges with openness and curiosity. Through thoughtful exploration and dialogue, we’ll work to identify patterns and influences that shape your experiences, offering clarity and insight along the way. Drawing from cognitive-based therapies, somatic practices, and parts work, I tailor our work to address the connection between your mind and body, helping you develop tools to navigate life’s complexities with greater confidence and self-compassion. Therapy is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of yourself, resolve inner conflicts, and cultivate growth that feels authentic and empowering. My goal is to celebrate your strengths and support you in creating a life that feels aligned with your values and true to who you are.
-
What should I do to prepare for my first session? It’s common to experience a mix of emotions as you prepare for your first session. What’s most important is knowing this time is dedicated to creating a supportive space where you feel truly seen and comfortable letting go of the mask to be your authentic self. Before we meet, I’ll provide you with a few forms to complete. These will help me get a better understanding of your background and goals for therapy. If you have any questions about the forms, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to help. During the session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and discuss what you’re looking to get out of therapy. You don’t need to have everything figured out; just come as you are. It can be helpful to think about what’s been on your mind lately or what’s motivating you to seek support, but it’s okay if you’re not sure where to start. Make sure you’re in a comfortable, private space with a reliable internet connection for our telehealth session. You might also want to have a notebook or some water nearby, but this isn’t required. Most importantly, remember that this is your time, and I’m here to meet you wherever you are.
-
How long are therapy sessions, and how often will we meet?Sessions are typically 55 to 60 minutes long, providing dedicated time to focus on your goals and explore the challenges you’re facing. We’ll work together to determine a meeting schedule that best supports your needs and aligns with your life. Many clients find that weekly sessions help create consistency and momentum in the therapeutic process, particularly when addressing ongoing challenges or exploring deeper patterns. As therapy progresses, we can adjust the frequency of sessions based on what feels most helpful for you. Some clients choose to meet biweekly or as needed once they’ve developed tools and feel more confident navigating life’s complexities. This flexibility allows us to tailor therapy to your evolving needs and ensure it remains meaningful and sustainable.
-
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?Life happens, and I understand that schedules can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask that you provide at least 24 hours' notice. This allows me to offer the time to another client who may need support. Cancellations or missed appointments without 24 hours' notice may result in a $75 cancellation fee. I aim to be as flexible as possible and am happy to work with you to find a new time that fits your schedule. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, feel free to reach out.
-
What should I do if I experience a crisis between sessions? If you’re experiencing a crisis or feeling unsafe between sessions, it’s important to seek immediate support. While I’m here to help during our scheduled sessions, I am not available for emergency services. For immediate assistance, you can contact a crisis hotline or visit an emergency facility: National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Dial 988 Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741 Emergency Services: Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room If you’re in Texas, you can also reach out to the Texas Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255. For ongoing support, I encourage you to consider reaching out to trusted friends or family members. If you’d like, we can also explore strategies during our sessions to help you feel more equipped to navigate difficult moments. Your safety and well-being are the highest priority, and there’s no shame in seeking additional help when you need it.

What are your office hours, and do you offer evening or weekend sessions? My office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Therapy sessions are scheduled between 9:00 AM and 3:15 PM, allowing time outside of session hours to respond to inquiries, manage administrative tasks, and prepare for our work together. I do not offer evening or weekend sessions at this time. If you have questions or need assistance outside of office hours, feel free to reach out, and I’ll respond as soon as possible during the next business day.
