GETTING STARTED
Beginning therapy, one step at a time.
Starting therapy can come with questions and uncertainty. Here's what to expect, from your first message to your first appointment and beyond.
THE PROCESS
What happens next
01 · Reach Out
The first step is to send me a message through the contact form. You can briefly share what brings you to therapy, ask questions, or simply let me know you're interested in getting started. You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
I'll respond within 1–2 business days to discuss availability and next steps. If you'd prefer to connect before scheduling, a brief consultation is available but isn't required.
02 · Confirm the Details
Once we've connected, we'll review appointment availability, scheduling, and payment arrangements. If you're using insurance, I'll help you get set up through Headway to verify your benefits and review your estimated out-of-pocket costs. If you're paying privately, we'll confirm the session fees and payment details.
We'll also address any questions you have before moving forward with the intake process.
03 · Complete Your Paperwork
Before your first appointment, you'll receive the intake paperwork and consent forms to review and complete electronically. These documents cover important information about your history, privacy, practice policies, and what to expect from therapy.
Take the time you need to review everything, and feel free to reach out with questions. We'll also have an opportunity to discuss the information and address any concerns during your first session.
04 · Your First Session
Before your first appointment, you'll receive the intake paperwork and consent forms to review and complete electronically. These documents cover important information about your history, privacy, practice policies, and what to expect from therapy.
Take the time you need to review everything, and feel free to reach out with questions. We'll also have an opportunity to discuss the information and address any concerns during your first session.
05 · Ongoing Therapy
As we continue working together, we'll develop a clearer understanding of your experiences, needs, and goals. Therapy may involve processing past experiences, exploring patterns and internal conflicts, developing practical supports, or finding new ways to navigate challenges. The direction of our work will be shaped by what feels meaningful and relevant to you.
We'll also determine a session frequency that fits your needs and circumstances, typically weekly or every other week. Our approach can evolve over time as your understanding, priorities, and needs change.
BEFORE YOUR FIST SESSION
A few practical details
Telehealth
All sessions are held virtually through a secure video platform. You'll need a reliable internet connection and a private, comfortable space where you can speak freely. You're welcome to arrange your environment in ways that support your sensory needs and comfort.
Location
I provide telehealth services to adults ages 18 and older who are physically located in Texas at the time of their appointments. You don't need to be a Texas resident, but you must be within the state during each session. If you plan to travel outside Texas, please let me know in advance so we can discuss scheduling.
Session Length
Both initial intake appointments and ongoing therapy sessions are approximately 60 minutes long. Session frequency is determined collaboratively based on your needs, goals, and availability, with appointments typically scheduled weekly or every other week.
Accessibility
You're welcome to share any sensory, communication, or processing preferences, such as needing extra time to respond, direct questions, or a predictable session structure. We can explore adjustments together to make therapy more accessible and supportive of your needs.
Ready when you are.
Whether you have a clear sense of what you're looking for or are still figuring that out, we can start with a conversation.
